Tom Ford Plum Japonais
Imagine the scent of a hand-carved, aromatic fir balsam wood box filled with ripe plums and spicy incense, cinnamon sticks, and buttery-scented saffron threads. What you come up with might approach the complexity of Tom Ford’s Plum Japonais, a true Oriental scent that is part of his Atelier d’Orient collection.
The ume plum is said to be a sacred symbol for spring in Japan and China, and Tom Ford wanted a fragrance centered around its luscious texture and aroma. Although Plum Japonais’ base is rich with vanilla, benzoin, and amber, don’t confuse it for a gourmand sweet bomb. Sweetness is there, of course, but Plum Japonais is largely a dry scent, its rich fruit layered with wood, resins, and aromatic spices.
